Marrying abroad has become very popular. With cost of travel coming down, many couples are opting for a romantic wedding in a exotic location. This could be just the couple on there own or with a number of close family and friends.
One of the problems is what do you do with the rest of your Family and friends left at home who may feel excluded, it is a good idea to arrange to have a celebration on the couple's return.
Most of the major tour operators offer wedding packages, these include the ceremony and honeymoon and with local representatives on hand to arrange and make sure all runs smoothly this can include photographers, wedding cakes and reception. Unless you have family or friends living in your chosen destination, using a tour operator should be the easier option for arrange all that is required. The one thing that is needed is time, you will need to provide copies of passport, birth certificates a good 2 - 3 months in advance.
Marriages in foreign countries are recognised in the United Kingdom as long as they hold to our current laws of eligibility. If in any doubt about the legal standing of a marriage contact the Home Office before any travel arrangements are made.
It is also a good idea to find out what is required in the country you are visiting, if you are doing this through a tour operator they will have the details however if you are arranging this your self then it is advisable to get in touch with the embassy for that country.
Don't forget to see your doctor at least three months before leaving to find out which vaccinations and other medical precautions, such as malaria tablets, are necessary.
